I did almost no editing on this one as I really wanted to get the ideas out on paper while I still had them in mind. Hope it's legible.

Sam Altman may be investigating nuclear FUSION, we already have nuclear fission powerplants.

Thanks for catching the typo. I saw he also promised to deliver a fusion power plant by 2028 😂

@CriticalResist (Crit)

There are a couple of deuterium-tritium fusion power plant construction project deals signed already- Which is amazing as working prototypes with net positive ELECTRICAL energy generated from their thermal fusion output vs. grid electrical energy inputs to achieve that fusion have not yet been seen.

Lots of claims for plasma produced, contained, temperatures reached, in 2022 the US national ignition facility claimed their thermal energy produced from fusion as being greater than energy used to cause the fusion. But nobody has made steam and spun a turbine connected to a generator and proved they can generate more electrical output than the massive inputs used by the LASERS, containment magnets and other equipment.

I worked on the plasma diffusion equation as a physics student in 1973. We have a long way to go. Not in their lifetime.

@Q10

"Fusion power has been '10 years away' for decades"?

----------

The below link has some pretty graphs, drawn and interpreted to show commercial thermonuclear electric power will be connected to the grid quite shortly. The graphics remind me of a RAND company study with similar graphs proving that the USA would win the Vietnamese war in a year or two.

As always, the map isn't the territory and your results may vary. Consult your physicist if symptoms don't improve.

China keeps looking better and better. Why can't we learn from them instead of opposing them at every turn?

GO CHINA GO!!

West need to be hard shaken and wake up looking at its mirror, seeing the brutal criminal face it has since the fake "LIberation" by US/UK in 1944.

Excellent article packed with fascinating and important information.

(i saw 2 errors both at the end of paragraphs, where a sentence starts with a couple of words then nothing and onto the next paragraph. It didn’t ruin my reading experience though, so no biggie.)

And it uses less energy. They just announced that an AI data center is opening in central Wisconsin which already suffers from high capacity wells to irrigate vegetables in the central sands, and Microsoft is going to build one where Foxconn failed to materialize after getting large tax incentives and using eminent domain to demolish homes-after getting access to Lake Michigan water

Two comments:

1. Big Tech has always been over-valued. Wall Street speculation is a self-fulfilling prophesy when so many wealthy people have invested so much and could lose so much if these companies fail.

2. AI is a kill switch on the human imagination, self-determination and Self-Realization.

Great read! It also helps that China has placed restrictions on some rare earth metals used for semiconductors late last year. This specifically targets the technology sector and AI of the USA. When will this bubble pop?

Trump is stuck on stupid. Believing his Money Empire can simply demonize his targets with sanctions, tariffs and Militarism to keep them down.

Little Rocket Man is ruling over a dying Empire.

It’s early but as you note with semiconductors solar panels EVs and Byte dance the open source commercialization of the technology takes it out of the realm of the billionaire oligarchs and their prison industrial state lavender perversions and nuclear pretensions, itself deep sixed by solar plus batteries five years ago. Big by Matt Stoller here on Substack has an article on deepseek from the monopoly angle alluding to the competition between the Pentagon and China’s national security state.

First it was the do it for the poor scam, then it was the limited resources scam, then they hit the mother lode with the climate scam and as a result they thought they could swoop in and control the populations globally first using Maoist Cultural revolutionary style tactics and then through post feudal totalitarian rule. Now it’s the AI scam needing twice the energy to run it and no one cares now about using nuclear power plants while supposedly needing half a trillion when China just did it for less than 5 million as they continue to build coal plants? I hope Trump doesn’t get taken in too far by these cash sucking oligarchs.
